The Little Story That Still Makes Me Smile: Caring for Handmade Cotton & Bamboo Knits

October 08, 2025

May I cheer you up with a short story? :-)

One of my customers once told me she still remembers the first time she washed her @junebeebaby knit.

She said she stood there for a moment, holding her handmade sweater and wondering if she should really trust the washing machine. Then she took a deep breath, pressed start, and waited.

When the cycle finished, she tossed it into the dryer for a couple of minutes—half nervous, half hopeful and crossed her fingers.

A little while later, she opened the door, looked inside, and started laughing.

“It came out perfect,” she said.
“Soft, fresh, and just like new.”

I loved hearing that, mostly because I know how surprising it feels.

We’ve all been taught that handmade knits need special care and a lot of worry.

But my knits are different. They’re made from natural cotton and bamboo fibers, so they fit right into real life.

You can machine wash them on a gentle cycle, give them about ten minutes in the dryer, then lay them flat on a towel to air dry.

That’s it. No fuss. No holding your breath.

Because beautiful, handmade clothing should be easy to live with and easy to love for years, right?

If something in these words or stitches speaks to you, I’d love to stay connected.
