Is It Worth the Wait?
June 27, 2025
Here's a quick a note about slow fashion, thoughtful design, and making things that matter.
If you’ve ever seen one of my bonnets or sweaters and noticed that “made-to-order” note, you might’ve wondered why.
Why not just have everything ready to go? Why the wait?
And is it actually worth it? I really believe it is.
Most of the pieces in my artisan shop are custom made because I believe in sustainable fashion. My goal is to curb overproduction and minimize overconsumption, two major problems in the fast fashion world.
By only producing what customers ask for, in the exact size and color they choose (or customizing the fit as they wish), I’m able to reduce waste, lower carbon emissions, and encourage more mindful buying.
This kind of small-batch, made-to-order clothing helps us all slow down.
These are not mass-produced items sitting in a warehouse. They aren’t created just to fill space or hit a sales goal.
Each knit is made one at a time, by hand, with purpose and care.
The fibers I choose, cotton and bamboo are breathable, soft, biodegradable, and gentle on even the most sensitive skin. These eco-friendly materials make for heirloom-quality clothes that hold up beautifully through multiple seasons and hand-me-downs.
They stretch and wash well. They’re designed for everyday use and long-term wear, not for one-time photo ops.
I design my knits to be classic and comfortable, not trendy. They grow with your child, layer easily, and stay in the family.
Choosing slow fashion like this isn’t just good for the planet.
It’s also better for your budget in the long run. Fewer, higher-quality pieces that actually last mean you don’t have to keep replacing them.
So yes, it takes a little longer. But I believe it’s worth it.
When you shop small and choose made-to-order, you’re saying no to waste and yes to something more meaningful.
You're supporting a slower, more thoughtful way of dressing your family.
If you’re waiting on a piece right now, thank you.
While your knit is being made, I’ll be here behind the scenes... designing, dreaming, and always staying connected.
