Have you ever noticed how some “handmade” knits are $30 and others are $130? And wondered… aren’t they all just knits? :-)
That’s a question I hear a lot. So I want to tell you why mine will never be the cheapest option.
First, no wool, no itch. My knits are made from cotton and bamboo. They’re soft, breathable, and gentle on skin for newborns, kids, teens, women, and even dolls. And they’re machine washable. Because clothes (and keepsakes) should be easy to live with.
A lot of knits out there are made from acrylic yarn. It looks fine at first but acrylic is plastic. It pills. It doesn’t breathe. It doesn’t last. Cotton and bamboo feel different. They wear much better. They’re safer for little ones, comfortable for grown-ups, and kinder to the planet.
And here’s something else most people don’t know: many shops sell machine-made sweaters with a little hand embroidery on top. They call them “handmade.” But they’re not. My pieces are truly hand knitted, stitch by stitch. That’s why they fit so well and hold their shape, whether it’s a cardigan for your child, a dress for your teen, or a bonnet for a doll.
I also think about how fast kids grow. That’s why I add things like drawstring waists, adjustable straps, rolling cuffs, generous sizing, and the natural stretch of cotton and bamboo. These details mean the clothes grow with your child. You get more than just a few months of wear.
And when something is made this carefully, it becomes more than just clothing. It’s an heirloom. A piece you tuck away for the next child. A sweater your teen might pass down to her sister. A doll outfit that lasts through years of play. Something worth keeping.
One last thing: if you ever order made-to-measure, I’ll customize it to fit at no extra cost. It matters to me that these pieces are truly worn and loved.
So no, my artisan knits aren’t cheap. They can’t be. But they’ll always be soft. Always be durable. Always be made with care. And always be worth it.
